Is it ok to turn your xbox vertical?
or will it scratch the disks and overheat

It is best to have your in the vertical position. I am an IT professional and spend a lot of time in server rooms and am convinced that vertical is the way to go. If you look at the logic, having it in the vertical position allows for maximum surface area exposed to cool air. I have mine vertical and it have never tipped over or scratched any of my discs. The only way you can scratch a disc is to have your in the vertical position with the disc spinning and move it the horizontal position. I also have a cooling fan on my as well. I purchased on that is powered thru USB and then purchased a powered USB hub as well. This eliminates the extra voltage draw from you which leads to the RROD.
